This Surah is shorter than the two that came before it. It starts out by talking a lot about rules for inheritance and dowry and marriage and stuff like that. Then it moves into talking about rules around killing and stuff like that. Then it moves towards talking about believers and disbelievers again. Then it talks about Jesus and the different interpretations of stuff in other religions.
- Jesus substitution theory is talked about here
- The Holy Trinity is rejected here
- Men inherit twice the money women get after someone dies
- It says that men are the caretakers of women and says that gently disciplining your wife is acceptable
- You should not pray when intoxicated.
- When washing and preparing for prayer, if there is no water to wash with, you can rub and scrub yourself with cool Earth.
- Migration for the sake of Allah is talked about. If you are ever persecuted, then there is surely room in the world for you to live and worship happily. People who die for migration to worship go to heaven.
- Prayer is talked about here. It is so important. At designated times, you must pray. In the event you are in an army, the army will break into two different groups with one group praying and one group standing guard. Then they switch roles.
This Surah delved into more specific stuff like dowries and stuff. To be honest, I still don’t even know what a dowry is. This Surah was quite boring for me because it was so specific on things. There were so many phrases like “two thirds of the estate goes to ….” and I don’t really think that would apply to me so I just didn’t read carefully. If it ever does, I’ll reread.
