This Surah is pretty short. I got through it in line 20 minutes. First it talks about rules for eating halal things. Then it talks about rules for washing before prayer. Then it talks more about Allah being the most merciful and bountiful and everything like that. Then it talks about the People of the Book and how some of them are against the way of Allah like those who believe in the Trinity. It talks about Jesus as just another prophet in explicit terms. Also, it talks about Islamic punishments like cutting off the right hand and left leg and execution and exile and stuff like that. It talks more about Jesus and how he asked for a banquet that Allah gave to reassure Jesus’s listeners and Allah said that after the banquet, if people still do not believe, he will punish them like never before.

• Cannot eat carrion (rotting animal flesh), blood, swine, or any animal that has not been killed in the name of God (can’t eat animals that have been strangled, gored, are found dead with scavengers, etc).
• Before prayer, you should wash your face and hands and feet up to your ankles. If you are in a state of impurity (after sex or after a wet dream), you should take a bath before prayer. If you are unable to do these things like there is no water around you, you should wash yourself with cool Earth.
• The Trinity is bullshit
• Islamic punishments are only applicable to places where Sharia law is established and these punishments also apply to non-Muslims.
• Jesus asked God to provide them a banquet to reassure the faith and satiate them. He gave them plenty of bounty but said that after this, whoever doesn’t believe he will punish them worse than he had ever punished before.

This was a pretty interesting Surah. It wasn’t too long, which I appreciated a lot. I shall keep reading.
